Keep Me Sane by Sarah Cowan is a poetry collection consisting of over 90 short poems. There are four sections representing four stages or themes: The SorrowsThe FallThe ChangeThe HealingThe poems are diverse, and evoke a range of emotions as the reader progresses. Many of the poems are certainly intimate, although not extremely so, just enough to give the reader a glance into the poet’s world, and prompt reflection. In the author’s own words:The pages in Keep Me Sane basically prove that poetry is how I breathe. Thanks to poetry, I have evidently remained sane through all of the challenging obstacles that life has presented to me such as, falling in love, breakup, and heartache. Additionally, it’s helped me become a better listener, and heal a broken heart.Excerpt from Keep Me Sane by Sarah Cowan:Keep Me Sane'The escape route from the world is carved by the poet’s pen, sculpting passion and emotion with each stroke.Through the outlet of poetry, poets choose vulnerability through words. To write releases all of those pent up emotions.Putting them all on this piece of paperto get it into the world and out of the mind...'

The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...
