Kapiolani: With Other Poems is a collection of poems written by Robert Grant and published in 1848. The title poem, Kapiolani, is an epic poem that tells the story of a Hawaiian queen who defies her people’s traditional beliefs and stands up to the goddess Pele in order to demonstrate her faith in Christianity. The other poems in the collection cover a range of topics, including nature, love, and morality. Grant’s writing is characterized by its use of vivid imagery and emotional depth. The collection was well-received upon its publication and is considered a significant work of American poetry from the mid-19th century. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world’s literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
