I love when a headline grabs my attention. There are certain words or combinations that appeal to all of us. I thought what if I used a somewhat familiar visual tool and communicate something original and true and beautiful. As a writer, I love all aspects of writing. I still vaguely recall using some kind of type set when I was a student at Felix Festa Junior High School in Shop Class. Asa font aficionado I took clipping s of newsprint its interesting words and decided to see how the creative process could work within the constraints of expressions and in some way be cogent and meaningful. Skating on adjectives, verbs and a host of unknowns you hold in your hand that which could be organized into a creative expression from my collection. There are phrases that are hold overs and occasionally a collage poem volume will be published. These are meant as an a means to encourage all of you artists and writers in hiding: emerge from your shells! Emerge from your shells! EMERGE FROM YOUR SHELLS!

  • Polishing the Silver
    Jennifer Chrystie
‘There’s a touch of both Dickinson and Larkin in Jennifer Chrystie’s mature exhumation of the tales and tropes of family. Figures who could so easily flit like phantoms in her well honed poetry are palpably enjoying an after-life in the poet’s ability to redeem through deep understanding. The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...

  • One Kiss
    Edward V Bonner
The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature....

  • Poems for the Fire
Robert B. Repenning / Robert BRepenning
For years these poems sat in file folder. They just didn’t seem to belong anywhere, until one day I noticed that they were meant to be together and to be shared. In the old days, poems without a home eventually would be burnt down by the river at Mount Saint Vincent’s College. Thankfully Danny O said something discouraging of this practice and so for years poems for the fire ha...
