Criado com o objetivo de ser um farol de esperança para os povos oprimidos do mundo e de promover o acesso à justiça para os cidadãos cujos governos não queiram ou não possam instaurar processos, o Tribunal Penal Internacional (TPI) tem recebido elogios e condenações em igual medida. No entanto, é interessante notar que estas reacções provêm maioritariamente de líderes políticos. As vozes das vítimas que a justiça do TPI visa têm sido largamente ignoradas. Após as eleições gerais de 2007/2008, o Quénia mergulhou na violência pós-eleitoral, que causou a morte de cerca de 1300 pessoas. Seis quenianos foram acusados de crimes de guerra relacionados com a VPE no TPI. Qual foi a reação das vítimas a estas acusações? O TPI fez justiça às vítimas do PEV no Quénia? Seguiu o devido processo legal ao acusar estes seis quenianos? Que efeitos a longo prazo teve o TPI na realização da justiça no Quénia?
