This book, which is, in reality, an accumulation of short stories, is, in fact, a story about those who have grown up and grown old in the mountainous regions of central Pennsylvania, or, more specifically, the heartland of the State, which can be found in Clinton and Centre counties, or even in the towns therein, such as Lock Haven and Bellefonte. In addressing those towns and counties, as well as those who have lived therein, by an accumulation of short stories on the subjects, I hope to introduce the reader to the morays and folkways of those people, who in their own charming way, give far more meaning to the way of being than can be found in a sociological examination of an area of the country commonly known as Appalachia.
