Juggernaut: A Veiled Record is a novel written by George Cary Eggleston and first published in 1903. The story is set in the late 1800s and follows the life of a young man named Jack Vernon who is struggling to find his place in the world. Jack is the son of a wealthy Virginia family, but he is not content with the life of privilege that has been laid out for him. He yearns for adventure and excitement, and he finds it when he joins the British army and is sent to India to fight in the Second Afghan War.In India, Jack becomes enamored with the culture and people of the country, but he also witnesses the brutal and oppressive nature of British colonial rule. He becomes disillusioned with the army and eventually deserts, joining a group of Indian rebels who are fighting for independence from British rule. The novel explores themes of imperialism, colonialism, and cultural identity. It is a critique of British colonialism in India and the way in which it oppressed and exploited the Indian people. It also examines the tension between Western and Eastern cultures and the struggle for identity that arises from this clash.Juggernaut: A Veiled Record is a complex and thought-provoking novel that offers a unique perspective on the history of British colonialism in India. It is a must-read for anyone interested in the history of imperialism and its impact on the world. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
