For decades, boxing fans, fighters, and media have questioned the decisions that define careers and shape the sport. But what if the real problem isn’t bad judging, but instead, misunderstood judging? In Judging Pro Boxing, veteran official Tom Schreck takes you inside the most scrutinized seat in sports: ringside with the scorecard in hand.Drawing on over thirty years of experience, Schreck breaks down the science and strategy behind how fights are actually scored, round by round and second by second. He reveals why close fights divide opinion, why 'damage' matters more than flash, and why many so-called controversies aren’t mistakes at all, but the result of trained professionals seeing the same fight through different, informed lenses.Inside, you’ll discover:How the Ten-Point Must System really works, and where it falls short The four scoring criteria explained beyond theory and into real application Why the jab wins rounds while highlight punches win crowds How style matchups create scoring dilemmas The hidden factors that influence every decision, including angle, noise, bias, and human limitations. Clear, candid, and grounded in real-world experience, this book exposes the complexity behind judging boxing.Once you understand what judges are seeing, you’ll never watch a fight the same way again.
