John: A Tale of King Messiah is a novel written by Katharine Pearson Woods in 1896. The story follows the life of John the Baptist, who is believed to be the forerunner of Jesus Christ. As John grows up, he becomes a prophet and begins to preach repentance and baptism to the people of Judea. He gains a following and becomes a threat to the religious leaders of the time. The story also follows the life of Jesus, who is John’s cousin. John recognizes Jesus as the Messiah and baptizes him in the Jordan River. The two men continue to preach and gain followers, but their message is met with opposition from the Roman authorities and the Jewish leaders. The novel ends with John’s execution by King Herod, who was pressured by his wife to have John killed. Despite his death, John’s message lives on, and the novel portrays him as a true prophet who paved the way for Jesus Christ.Overall, John: A Tale of King Messiah is a historical and religious novel that explores the life of John the Baptist and his relationship with Jesus Christ.
