John Forsyth’s Aunts is a novel written by Eliza Orne White and first published in 1901. The story is set in the late 19th century and revolves around the lives of three elderly sisters, Miss Priscilla, Miss Dorcas, and Miss Hepzibah Forsyth, who live together in a small New England town. The sisters are known for their eccentricities and their habit of meddling in the affairs of their neighbors. The novel follows the sisters as they take in their orphaned nephew, John Forsyth, and attempt to mold him into their ideal image of a gentleman. However, John proves to be a challenge for the sisters, as he is headstrong and independent, and has his own ideas about how he wants to live his life.As John grows up, he becomes involved in a love triangle with two women from the town, and the sisters find themselves caught up in his romantic entanglements. Meanwhile, the town is facing its own challenges, as a new industrial plant threatens the traditional way of life.Throughout the novel, the sisters provide a window into a bygone era, with their old-fashioned ways and their steadfast commitment to the values of their youth. The story is a charming and humorous portrait of a small town community and the colorful characters who inhabit it.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
