The short-story, is one of the most important literary subgenres in Urdu literature, despite its relative youth. This was influenced by western and literary concepts and tendencies, as well as the contemporary industrial and mechanized environment. Balraj Menra is considered one of the most important and unique storytellers of the modern era. All his stories not only demand thought and reflection, but also raise questions for the reader. The feature of his stories that attracts the reader’s attention the most is the allusiveness and sufficiency of words, due to which not only the external surface of his stories seems meaningful, but a world of meaning is hidden between the lines of his stories. There is much in his stories that the storyteller seems to deliberately avoid explaining.
