In my thesis I am focusing on Jim Morrison’s life, his career as a rock star, and his poetry. The last of these, his poetry, is not so widely known. It is because of this that I am concentrating on his poetry separately, as I feel that in order to get a complete picture of Jim Morrison it is essential to discuss this as well. There are many overlaps in his poetry and lyrics. This is why it is essential to view his works in unison. Morrison was influenced by numerous poets and writers from which I am introducing the most prominent and important ones. A lot of people say a lot of things about Morrison - friends, colleagues, The Doors members, journalists and fans. They remember a lot of things and they even write long books on him, his life, career, death, and also his poetry. They study his life and try to give a trustworthy analysis on his personality and his writings. This is not an easy task for his mind and behavior were very complex, and nobody ever knew what he was going to do next. My purpose is to dissolve prejudices about him and present the poet, not only the rock star, through introducing his character, thoughts and one of his longer poems.
