De Jezus in deze geschriften is veel spiritueler, soms zelfs mystiek, en wijst ons via inzichten die we ook tegenkomen in het Boeddhisme, Hindoeïsme en Taoïsme de weg naar onszelf.Op basis van deze oude geschriften weeft de auteur prachtige spirituele inzichten door het verhaal. Zo is Judas eindelijk niet meer de boeman en Maria Magdalena niet meer de hoer. Ook de jeugd van Jezus komt uitgebreid aan bod, het onbekende verhaal dat niet in de Bijbel te vinden is.Niet eerder kwam Jezus in een boek zo dichtbij. Als lezer word je van het begin af aan meegezogen in het verhaal. Zo menselijk is zijn worsteling met de last die op zijn schouders is gelegd en zo herkenbaar zijn de keuzes waarvoor hij komt te staan dat menigeen zichzelf in hem zal herkennen. 3
