Niniejsza praca odnosi się do pierwszej analizy literatury dotyczącej jakości życia według kwestionariusza SF-36 dorosłych pacjentów, którzy zostali poddani zabiegowi neurochirurgicznemu z zastosowaniem techniki mikrochirurgicznej w celu usunięcia pierwotnych nowotworów śródrdzeniowych. Leczenie chirurgiczne tych nowotworów jest wskazane w celu uzyskania całkowitej resekcji, zmniejszenia zachorowalności i zwiększenia przeżywalności bez nawrotów choroby, w dążeniu do wyleczenia. Konsekwencje leczenia chirurgicznego wpływające na jakość życia zostały porównane metodą psychometryczną z wykorzystaniem specyficznych skal McCormicka i Aminoffa-Logue’a dla funkcjonalności rdzenia kręgowego. Spójność wewnętrzna pod względem trafności konstrukcji i kryteriów potwierdziła hipotezę o istnieniu związku między wynikami SF-36 a skalą McCormicka, skalami Aminoff-Logue dotyczącymi chodu, pęcherza moczowego i jelit. Rzetelność została wykazana we wszystkich ośmiu obszarach SF-36, a spójny związek pozwolił lepiej scharakteryzować postrzeganie zdrowia przez pacjentów poddanych leczeniu chirurgicznemu.
