Marilyn and her men are back, this time with the addition of Rachel (aka Jack). The newest characters are Beulah Ravines (Blue) and Greg Matthews, the oldest brother of Ricky and cousin to Clifford Matthews. The story is told from both Blues, and Marilyn Chane’s perspectives. Finally, the dog Aussie, introduced at the end of book two, has his own take on what happened. The story picks right up after the shootings at the end of the previous book. Only a few months have passed, and the gang has not solved the answer. Who are the leather faced men that showed up at the reunion between Ricky and Jack? The mysterious men shot Clifford, Ricky, John, Adam, and Michael. However, thanks to the immortality serum, they all recovered in time for Michael to escape an attempted kidnapping then to go into hiding. While he was hiding, his cult flock and his brothers harass new mother Jack after she gave birth to triplets. Greg Matthew’s clones show up and demand a meeting with Marilyn, Jack, and the men. The women travel to Louisiana to question the presumed culprits in Michael’s abduction. Meanwhile, Beulah Ravines is approached by an unknown man and blackmailed into helping him kidnap Thomas, Ralph’s nephew and Jack’s son. He discovers the kidnapping attempt and talks Beulah into going along with it, so he can nab the kidnapper. Everything simply goes wrong from there when the kidnapper’s true agenda and familiar relationship, is revealed. Some don’t survive, and another is seriously maimed.
