It was not uncommon in the 1950’s for a young lad in trouble to be given a choice of either jail time or military service time as punishment for his wrong doings. Butch Bormes found himself in that very situation and chose the military rather than prison time to make amends for his wrong doings. This story takes us back to the early days of Vietnam where Butch finds himself being sent to Camp Unknown near the North Vietnamese border. Only the President and a few high ranking officers are aware of the camp. The Marines stationed there were assigned to keep tabs on any enemy movement of the NVA from the north and also any movement of the Viet Cong in that area. Butch volunteers for a special job and finds that it is very much to his liking. This story has a lot of action and tells you about what went on there back then.

Stuart Evans’s first novel is a comedy-of-ill-manners set in a nouveau riche milieu: a fantastic satirical performance and hyper-referential homage to masters past and present. Paul Keller is the Stephen Dedalus of the piece, the son of Robert and Sylvie, whose internal monologue is spliced into the action, and whose incestuous feelings for his sister lead to an increase in his...
