Herb Klischies created the “It Happened This Month” feature in Guide magazine from 1957 to 1979. His process for creating each beautiful piece of art was both strategic and purposeful. Whether it was about hot air balloons or the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Herb's “It Happened This Month” feature was to spark an interest in young people to study the many accomplishments noted in history, whether by scientists, explorers, inventors or plain people from all walks of life. To gain, hopefully, an appreciation for the things we enjoy today brought about by those who came before us. “Only as we study the past can we plan successfully for the future.” Gain an inside look at an artist's process and learn how one's talents can be used for the church.
