Уже в период развитой Хараппы находятся подтверждения активной торговли между ними. В дальнейшем история знает несколько периодов подъема и упадка, но полностью они не прекращались никогда. Именно арабы изначально привезли на землю Индостана ислам, хотя в дальнейшем большее влияние оказал северный путь из Средней Азии. Первыми же пострадавшими от рук европейских колонизаторов также оказались индостанские мусульман - потомки арабских династий, которые активно сражались за свою национальную независимость. При этом, позднее в 19 веке, когда земли Южной Азии и Арабского мира были соединены в единый колониальный механизм под названием Британская империя, отношения между Индостаном и арабами активизировались. Провозглашение независимости от британцев произошло приблизительно одновременно в середине 20 века, что вынудило новые страны повторно искать точки соприкосновения и выстраивать мирную политику сотрудничества.[CODE-ART]
