This book provides important research update on ischemic heart disease. The disease has a huge financial effect on global healthcare systems and extensive economic consequences for world economics. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is ranked as the primary reason for death across the globe, responsible for 17.1 million deaths every year. Such numerical values are generally not easy to understand and a coronary even occurs every 25 seconds and CVD kills one person every 34 seconds, and 35 people under 65 years of age die prematurely each day because of this disease. However, due to enhanced drug regimens, implementation of lipid lowering therapy and advances in acute surgical intervention the incidence of this disease has decreased in recent years. This book reviews the development, diagnosis, risk factors, treatment and epidemiology of this disease.
