Devin and Emily Marsden had battled hurricanes before in their long history of living in Central Florida. Seasons came and went and no storm really ever terrified them until September 2017 when Hurricane Irma made landfall on the peninsula. As they prepared for the storm they opened their doors to Devins brother and his husband who were evacuating the southern part of the state and their coastal home. The Marsden’s close neighbors who lived directly next to them in the suburban neighborhood, were the best neighbors anyone could ask for. With an imminent arrival of the storm and Devins brother, husband and little dog on their way, they extended an invite to their neighbors. Alan and Jack and their new baby would join them for a small hurricane party to ride out the fierce cyclone heading their way.Nothing would prepare them for what unfolded over the course of eight terrifying hours. The hurricane that raged outside became the least of their worries as they quickly realized the storm they feared the most, was inside their home.
