Zechariah wrote and spoke to a people who badly needed some encouragement during a frightening time. Everyone around them seemed to be against the work of God being accomplished, and threats on their very lives and families came right from the top of the political heap. If God’s people continued to do what God called them to do in spite of all the opposition, would God be able to carry it through? God pulled back the curtain in Zechariah and showed them and us that He is well aware of our situations and in absolutecontrol of bringing His will to pass despite the rise and fall of nations. The people in Zechariah’s day and we in our own need to get a glimpse beyond the raging of nations and the frustrations of human squabbles small and great. God in His goodness invites us in through Zechariah’s visions and prophecies to see where things were going despite how the times may appear. Jesus takes center stage in Zechariah’s prophecies as God reveals not just the downfall of wicked nations but the defeat of sin’s dominion overthe hearts of man through the redemptive work of Christ for all who believe.

  • COLOSSAL 24
    Eric Michael Weston
COLOSSAL 24:7 is expounding that direction to renown, not in the realm of worldy regard, but holy alongside good traction to them that place their notability off of vapored motivation. I called this book 'COLOSSAL' because of the meaning of the term, in this world where men and women compete for popularity and wealth, many overlook the good and right-doing. To him or her that a...

  • God vs. The God We Make Him Out To Be
    Parker Bradley
Zephaniah spoke in a day when God’s people had so welcomed the pagan world into their lives, culture, and religion that they had sunk into thinking that God was irrelevant, impotent, and not one to be taken seriously. The political and religious leadership stopped their ears to God’s message and arrayed themselves in what the pagan world around them saw as beautiful and accepta...

Malachi prophesied at a time when God’s people had just come through a difficult time but had seen God’s great providence for them proven true once again. At the time Malachi wrote, things had been going well for a while. God’s people were coasting along, and following the Lord began to lose its luster. The outside world was becoming a snare once again for the leadership and th...

One of the toughest things to do can be to admit when we’re wrong. It’s easier on the prideful soul to deflect blame or to rationalize bad decision making. What God’s people in Joel’s day had before them was the possibility of utter ruin brought on by bad choices to reject God’s ways. Great hardship that crippled their economy and home life had just swept through, and now an op...

Nahum is an interesting prophet who, like Obadiah, directed his message to a powerful neighboring kingdom bent on the destruction and abuse of God’s people. His prophecy was not just an encouraging message to the beaten-down people of Jerusalem, it was God Himself standing against that abuse and working on behalf of the disheartened to bring an end to that suffering.Nahum gives...

Talk with anyone who has been in church ministry for a while and ask them, 'Was there a time when you thought about asking God, ’Does it have to be this difficult to do what you’ve called me to do?’' You are likely to get a deep sigh and then a long response. But the truth is that sometimes God calls us to do the difficult.Haggai’s story tracks along several Biblical books and ...

Some men are loud and boisterous and get a lot of attention in how they do what they do. Other men quietly get the job done and turn out to be foundational without all the hubbub. The Minor Prophet Micah is tough as nails but doesn’t draw the attention to himself that rightly goes to God and His good work. Micah and Isaiah prophesied together during terribly trying times for Go...
