The workshop presents the works, in which the issues relevant to the discipline 'Introduction to Professional Activity' are considered. The workshop is designed for students of the 1st year of training direction 22.03.01., as well as for other directions related to materials science. The purpose of the book is to form students’ knowledge of the basics of materials science and areas of activity of a full-time bachelor in accordance with the profile 'Materials Science and Technology of Materials', including consideration of the development of materials science in the historical context, while revealing, through the specificity of the object and the subject of the study of the individuality of this scientific, and educational discipline, objects, areas and types of professional activities of the graduate.
