L’homme est par nature un philosophe. Ce que nous pouvons appeler une philosophie n’est ni une histoire narrative ni un volume écrit d’un texte. La façon dont nous vivons avec les autres dans la société et dont nous conversons suffit pour être appelé une philosophie. La philosophie écrite a été faite à partir de la nature elle-même. La philosophie suscite une variété de questions telles que pourquoi ?, quoi ?, comment ?, quand ? Où ? Quand ? L’objet matériel de la philosophie est l’étude de toutes choses. Mais l’objet formel de la philosophie est l’explication fondamentale de ces choses. La philosophie, comme toutes les autres disciplines, est une science, mais c’est une science universelle qui s’engage à donner l’explication la plus profonde de toutes choses. Alors que les autres disciplines sont limitées à un seul domaine, la philosophie est sans limite dans son étude car elle traite de toutes les questions de l’être. Sa généralité lui permet d’inclure tout ce qui est étudié par d’autres sciences - mais elle va plus loin pour trouver la base de ses objets d’étude. Alors que la biologie, par exemple, étudie la façon dont les plantes et les animaux se déplacent, la philosophie va plus loin et se demande 'pourquoi y a-t-il du mouvement' ?
