This book characterizes various signals found inWi-Fi networks. In particular, it analyzesBarker-spread signals, Complementary Code Keyingsignals, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexedsignals with Cyclic Prefix Code, and Microwave ovensignals. Experimental and simulation results areutilized to refine and verify the theoretical modelsthat use the specifications of the IEEE 802.11b/gstandards throughout the book. The wirelessinterference resulting from intentional andunintentional sources is characterized and mitigatedto provide better spectrum efficiency and dynamicresource allocation in WLANs. While AdaptiveAntennas with Tapped Delay Lines are suggested tomitigate intentional interference from Wi-Fi sources, other mitigation methods are proposed to allow forWLAN operation in the presence of unintentionalinterferers like microwave ovens. The OFDM andcyclic prefix code analysis presented by this bookrelates to many applications beyond Wi-Fi networks. For example, it applies to WiMAX and DSL networks, digital television, and audio broadcasting. This bookis particularity useful to researchers, R&Dcompanies, RF engineers, and telecommunicationsprofessionals.
