Il libro estende il concetto di linguaggio della teoria socioculturale di Lev Vygotsky alle differenze cognitive tra l’acquisizione di una seconda lingua (SLA) e l’apprendimento di una lingua straniera (FLL), e riesce a colmare il divario tra FLL e SLA nella costruzione dell’interazione didattica per l’FLL attraverso l’adozione della zona di sviluppo prossimale e dello scaffolding. Il libro non intende solo promuovere un particolare approccio allo sviluppo dell’interazione didattica nell’FLL online, ma è anche un tentativo di evidenziare l’esistenza delle differenze tra FLL e SLA e di sottolineare la necessità di prestare loro attenzione su una base teorica che vada oltre la SLA.
