La vinaza es el subproducto líquido generado en la producción de etanol a través de la fermentación de la caña de azúcar. Cada litro de etanol producido genera 13 litros de vinaza; por lo que se alcanza la alarmante cifra de 2.600 millones de litros de vinaza al año. Esto se incrementará por la implementación de un aumento en el porcentaje de etanol en los combustibles. Por lo que se comenzaron a investigar opciones para el aprovechamiento de sus propiedades físico-químicas.Argentina presenta zonas no productivas por su alto contenido salino. Una estrategia para producir su restauración haciéndolas más productivas sería aplicar el fertiriego con vinaza. La adaptación de estos suelos permitiría trasladar la actividad agrícola impidiendo la desforestación y restableciendo la absorción de agua, impidiendo los serios inconvenientes causados por fenómenos meteorológicos estivales. La innovación que proponemos en este trabajo nace de la observación del fenómeno de sobreexpresión de exopolisacaridos (EPS) de manera inmediata y exacerbada al entrar en contacto con vinaza por parte de Pseudomonas putida KT2440 y sus mutantes lapA, lapF y mutante doble lapA/lapF.
