In diesem Buch bewertet der Autor die Auswirkungen der Integration von HIV/AIDS-Dienstleistungen in die primäre Gesundheitsversorgung auf die HIV-Prävalenz und die Bereitstellung von HIV/AIDS-Dienstleistungen in Mosambik. Das Buch berichtet über die Ergebnisse einer vom Autor durchgeführten Studie, die statistische Anhaltspunkte für die qualitativen Ergebnisse einer früheren Studie von Pfeiffer und anderen zum gleichen Thema liefert. Unter Verwendung von Daten aus 43 Ländern südlich der Sahara, die über einen Zeitraum von acht Jahren (2002-2009) zu einer Reihe von Variablen erhoben wurden, wandte der Autor Korrelationen, Regressionen und Faktorenanalysen an, um die Daten zu analysieren. Die Ergebnisse zeigen, dass die Integration von HIV/AIDS-Dienstleistungen in die primäre Gesundheitsversorgung wesentlich zur Senkung der HIV-Prävalenzrate in Mosambik beigetragen hat. Abschließend schlägt er einige mögliche politische Maßnahmen vor, um die wahrgenommenen Vorteile des Integrationsprogramms in Mosambik und anderen Ländern in ähnlichen Situationen zu maximieren.
