Inovando na luta contra a desigualdade: o alcance e o impacto da mineração em pequena escala explora como a mineração em pequena escala se cruza com as disparidades socioeconómicas globais, impactando a desigualdade contemporânea. Existem disparidades persistentes a nível local e global (ONU: idade, género, raça, etnia, estatuto migratório, deficiência). A Oxfam Gana destaca o impacto disruptivo da desigualdade. O artigo utiliza um quadro de economia política para analisar a política/economia na mineração em pequena escala: políticas governamentais, dinâmicas de poder, estruturas de mercado e distribuição de recursos. Utiliza metodologia qualitativa, entrevistas (académicos, funcionários, mineiros no Gana) e análise de conteúdo para examinar como a mineração em pequena escala agrava as disparidades (distribuição de recursos, oportunidades, panorama socioeconómico) e insta a academia/os decisores políticos a abordar estas questões. O objetivo é enriquecer o discurso sobre o desenvolvimento sustentável pós-COVID-19, contribuindo para sistemas mais equitativos, colocando em primeiro plano a mineração em pequena escala e a desigualdade.
