La recherche de solutions d’équipements ou de procédures à faible coût en milieu rural a incité les agriculteurs, les ingénieurs et les chercheurs à développer de nouvelles technologies. Celles-ci facilitent les opérations agricoles, minimisent l’effort physique et permettent de gagner du temps dans l’exécution du travail. Cette étude est le résultat d’une recherche de deux ans menée à l’Université fédérale de Paraíba/Centre des sciences agronomiques (UFPB/CCA). Elle décrit le développement et l’évaluation d’une machine à décortiquer les graines de ricin, ainsi que sa comparaison avec d’autres méthodes de décorticage et ses effets sur la qualité physiologique des graines.
