Ink stains on a wooden bench - is a collection of poems, across various moods, that serve as a delectable indulgence for your morning cup of chai or coffee. The poems are simple, relatable and fun to read for times when you’re in break between office work or when travelling in that special overnight train journey!Inspiration for each poem has been drawn from myriad of situations, real life experiences, observations and at times, from simple objects in our daily lives. Each of the poem written is penned from either my, the author’s, perspective or from the protagonist’s perspective, which many a times maybe inanimate objects personified.Interesting background for a few of my personal favourite poems. The poems aim to serve as an inspiration for the dear readers to think, dream and at times, even start writing their experiences in simple yet quirky fashion to leave behind a bundle of joy, in form of parchment and ink, for the next generation of readers. But, at the end, it’s a small ode to my family, best friends and my English Teachers who unlocked a world of limitless imagination for me, by gifting me books that resonated me at each turn of the page.A pot of Ink! - This piece got it’s genesis from a simple poetry writing contest where I had participated. Shortage of time and inability to break the writer’s block translated to a poetry that mirrors the frustration as hunt for fresh ink.Bookworm - A short poem written in lockdown when I had a Ruskin Bond book, lying by the bedside, untouched for a long while. The poetry was inspired by the feeling of loneliness and work burden that kept interfering with the intent to indulge in one of my favourite books.Flight to Calcutta - A poem born from nostalgia that hit me just days before I boarded the flight to Calcutta, my mother’s hometown - a city where I spent every vacation as a child, away from Dehradun. The excitement to travel back in time and relive a few treasured memories served as the motivation for the poem.House for Sale - This is an ode to my home in Dehradun, after it was sold off; the feeling of missing had driven me to look at the house sale as an event of farewell, between the once sweet home and the little child, that was I. The farewell has been encapsulated as a poetry from the perspective of the home in quaint narrow lane of Adarsh Nagar Colony. There’s much more treasure inside - have a look and keep coming for poetry that will always feel like freshly brewed coffee, each time you give it a read!
