Im Jahre 1971 wurde der Roman „Malina' als der einzige vollendete Teil dieses künstlerischen Werkes (und einziger Roman überhaupt) veröffentlicht. Auch 30 Jahre nach dem Tod der Autorin gibt es unzählige Lesarten und unterschiedlichste Interpretationen, das Buch lässt keine rein eindimensionale Betrachtung zu. Immer wieder stand und steht noch die Frage nach den möglichen biographischen Zusammenhängen im Vordergrund, welche zum einen ganz verworfen und zum anderen als elementar angesehen wird.
