Infant Baptism and Adult Conversion

'Infant Baptism and Adult Conversion' is a profound theological exploration into the spiritual connection between the sacrament of baptism received in infancy and the subsequent experience of personal awakening and conversion in adult life. Written by the influential theologian Ole Hallesby, this work addresses a central tension within Christian doctrine: how the objective grace bestowed in infant baptism relates to the subjective necessity of a conscious, living faith. The text provides a systematic exposition of the concept of regeneration, examining how the seed of spiritual life planted during baptism is nurtured or rediscovered through the process of conversion. Hallesby navigates these complex themes with a focus on pastoral care and dogmatic clarity, offering insights into the Lutheran perspective on grace, repentance, and the ongoing Christian life. This work serves as an essential resource for those seeking to understand the inner workings of sacramental theology and its practical implications for individual believers. By bridging the gap between sacramental duty and personal spiritual vitality, 'Infant Baptism and Adult Conversion' remains a significant contribution to the study of Christian initiation and the development of the soul. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
