Es dient in den verschiedensten Bereichen als ein positiv konnotierter Begriff für Konzepte, die den Fokus auf die Persönlichkeit des einzelnen Menschen legen. Damit ist die inhaltliche Präzisierung von Individualisierung im aktuellen Sprachgebrauch scheinbar schon erschöpft. Individualisierung kann sowohl als Leitbild für sonderpädagogische Einrichtungen, als Mittel zur Kundenbindung oder zur Steigerung des Lernerfolgs bei Schülern und als Arbeitsteilungsmodell herangezogen werden, um nur einige Beispiele zu nennen.
