Earth wants retribution for the lost city of Khonsu from the malicious Overseer. Rebecca Vance and Mark Wu return Medín to the planet Reiddo, ostensibly to free his people from the Overseer’s influence. But the Earth ships come under attack by a strengthened Reiddo fleet, and the Earth ships crash in the desert, far from civilization. As expedition leader, Mark finds a cave where the survivors seek shelter. But he faces hostile Reiddo forces when he seeks to determine the extent of the disaster. Rebecca has concerns of her own. She is injured in the attack and didn’t want to go to Reiddo in the first place. Now she faces a perilous environment, and more enemies are hunting for them. She and Mark want to develop a cure for the deadly Overseer’s influence, but their equipment was damaged, and their head virologist was killed in the crash. As obstacles mount against them, they must find a way to cure the beleaguered Reiddo while also battling the Overseer, who controls the entire population of the planet. But a new threat looms on the horizon, and this may only be the beginning.
