In Kedar’s Tents is a novel by Henry Seton Merriman that tells the story of two British brothers, Jack and Eric Warrender, who are sent to Jerusalem to work as archaeologists. While there, they become involved in a political conspiracy involving the Ottoman Empire and the British government. Along the way, they meet a cast of characters, including a beautiful American woman named Hilda Howe and a mysterious Arab named Kedar Bey. As they navigate the dangerous world of espionage and politics, the brothers must also confront their own personal demons and desires. The novel is set against the backdrop of the late 19th century, a time of great political upheaval and change in the Middle East. With its vivid descriptions of the landscape and culture of the region, In Kedar’s Tents is a thrilling adventure story that also explores themes of identity, loyalty, and betrayal. He arrived in Ronda under singularly unfortunate circumstances, and I was compelled to have his travelling companion shot. Then occurred that affair of the letter, which he gave to Julia--an affair which has never been explained. Conyngham would have to show me that letter before I should be quite satisfied. I obtained for him an introduction to General Espartero in Madrid. That was six or seven weeks ago. The introduction has not been presented, nor has Conyngham been seen in Madrid. In England, on his own confession, he was rather a scamp; why not the same in Spain?’This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
