In His Own Words - Discovering William Tyndale, was compiled in hopeful anticipation of the 500th anniversary of the publication of his English language translation of the Bible. From these scriptures, it takes many phrases with which we have become familiar, and matches them to quotations from Tyndale’s writings, thereby highlighting their historical context and enriching our understanding. We may never fully appreciate his struggles, but as the quin-centennial celebration of his earth-shaking achievement draws closer, with renewed interest we can acknowledge his contributions to our interpretation of holy writ, and ponder anew the far reach of his influence on the spoken word.
