'In and Around the Book of Daniel' is an exhaustive scholarly defense of the Book of Daniel, examining its historical and prophetic weight through the lens of archaeology and ancient inscriptions. Written by Charles Boutflower with contributions from noted Assyriologist Theophilus G. Pinches, the work seeks to contextualize the biblical narrative within the framework of the Babylonian and Persian empires. By leveraging contemporary discoveries in cuneiform and Near Eastern history, the book addresses long-standing questions regarding the accuracy of the text’s historical details. The study provides deep dives into the identities of figures such as Belshazzar and Darius the Mede, offering a compelling argument for the book’s authenticity against the higher criticism of the early 20th century. Boutflower’s methodical approach combines linguistic analysis with historical evidence, making this an invaluable resource for those interested in biblical criticism, the history of the exile, and the intersection of scripture and archaeology. 'In and Around the Book of Daniel' stands as a significant contribution to biblical scholarship, preserving a moment in theological history where ancient artifacts began to shed new light on sacred texts. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
