Impressions of an English Woodland is a poetry collection for nature lovers. It celebrates the wild places on our doorsteps and the turning seasons. In it we take a walk through the woods, as the calendar turns, sharing the author’s observations of seasonal life. From bluebells and primroses, through sticky buds and birdsong, on to bare trees and snow, writer and musician Paula Boulton shares her ‘outdoor studio’ with the reader, as well as her unique feelings for the plants, trees and creatures of the Kingswood. This quirky evocation of an ancient woodland through the year offers much more than poetry. It’s a glimpse inside the human mind that captures one woman’s intimate relationship with nature.

The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...

The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature....
