O principal objetivo deste estudo é avaliar os efeitos do desenvolvimento, expropriação e conflito na comunidade Mursi no Projeto de Desenvolvimento do Açúcar Omo Kuraz, no sudoeste da Etiópia. O pesquisador utilizou uma metodologia de pesquisa qualitativa para conseguir isso com a ajuda de quatro objetivos distintos e questões de pesquisa relacionadas. Algumas técnicas de coleta de dados foram grupos focais, entrevistas semiestruturadas e observações. Foi realizada análise temática dos dados primários e secundários após a coleta de dados. O estudo destaca que estes projectos melhoram a infra-estrutura para a comunidade e criam oportunidades económicas para os residentes na área do projecto. Também destaca que o governo inicialmente fornece algumas infra-estruturas sociais para a comunidade. O estudo também revela como a comunidade Mursi continua a ver os seus direitos humanos e constitucionais violados à medida que são removidos à força das suas terras ancestrais pelo antigo governo etíope (EPRDF).
