Na bacia de Tim Mersoï, no norte do Níger, os depósitos de urânio são explorados há cinco décadas por duas empresas mineiras. O aumento da atividade mineira, combinado com o crescimento da população, está a colocar grandes exigências aos recursos hídricos subterrâneos do aquífero Permiano de Izégouande. Durante a última década, este aquífero contribuiu com quase 70% do abastecimento de água potável na zona mineira. O objetivo deste trabalho é mostrar o impacto das actividades mineiras no funcionamento hidrodinâmico do aquífero de Izégouande e na sua vulnerabilidade à poluição. Para atingir este objetivo, foi utilizada uma abordagem metodológica interdisciplinar, integrando a análise das curvas de isóbata e isopaque e o estudo dos parâmetros hidrodinâmicos e hidroquímicos. Foram elaborados vários diagramas (Chadha, Gibbs, Schöeller Berkaloff, etc.), bem como um mapa de vulnerabilidade do lençol freático à poluição. As PCAs, as relações binárias entre iões e o cálculo dos índices de saturação e de troca catiónica foram utilizados para determinar a origem da mineralização do lençol freático.
