Total Productive Maintenance(TPM) 'It can be considered as the medical science of machines'. J.Venkatesh Today’s successful manufacturing organisations require a significant competitive advantage, hence the need to implement and develop a TPM program/strategy. This book demonstrates how a TPM strategy can be applied to achieve world-class performance. TPM advocates the improvement of production equipment effectiveness, quality and quantity of production. The basic underlying approach of TPM is to maximize production equipment effectiveness, which yields higher capital productivity. In essence, a well maintained plant produces the right quality and quantity of products which in turn yield high productivity. The goal of TPM is to increase productivity as well as employee morale and job satisfaction. The book also shows that TPM involves everyone in an organisation, from operator to senior management and top management support for TPM activities is needed and that training is an essential factor for TPM’s success in improving manufacturing performance. TPM strategy works in industrial plants, construction, building maintenance and transportation.
