Female Muslim immigrants in Germany and France are increasingly experiencingchallenges integrating into Western lifestyles. They have to adjust tooccidental communities in which they try to incorporate their own traditionsand values. They experience feelings of belonging and rejection at the sametime. My studies have concentrated on the adaptation of Muslim Women inGermany and France. Although many similarities exist between those twogroups, it is a must to examine each one separately. In order to understandIslamic female immigrants’ quest for a new identity, it have been beneficialnot only to look at the socio-cultural aspects of their lives, but also toexamine the great influence immigrant literature and mass media have onthem. Hopefully, studies such as mine will be a positive step in the directionof a society that will be more aware of the deeply rooted problems of racismand sexism.
