“Sometimes all you need is some #metime and a martini.” ~ Tamara There's no manual for life, you just work your way through it. I have been struggling with work, home, school, peri-menopause, kids' activities, surgery, holidays, you name it. All these things take a toll on your body, mind and spirit. I try to keep it all together and juggle everything to make it work. But sometimes I get stressed. It's hard for some folks to understand what I am talking about when I express myself. That's when I pick up my pen and paper and write. This is my second book and I must admit writing based on my daily experiences was helpful, eye opening, and some days disappointing. Fortunately, I can go to my favorite place for adult beverages and simply say, I'll Have a Martini, Please! This book is a collection of my thoughts, ideas, #hashtags about various issues and poetry about my feelings and favorite things. I'll Have a Martini, Please! offers my view on everything from marriage and motherhood, my 'obsession for Ben & Jerry's ice cream', my love for music-wigs-red roses, and concerns about sharing personal information in the workplace. I'll Have a Martini, Please! is honest, pure and simple words from my heart. 3

‘There’s a touch of both Dickinson and Larkin in Jennifer Chrystie’s mature exhumation of the tales and tropes of family. Figures who could so easily flit like phantoms in her well honed poetry are palpably enjoying an after-life in the poet’s ability to redeem through deep understanding. The collection arcs from, at one extreme, the parsimonies of the household, to the transce...

  • One Kiss
    Edward V Bonner
The very title of Edward V. Bonner's first volume of poetry, One Kiss (Ingram, 2015), suggests some ways in which the poems inside balance the universal with the particular. Most of the poems examine the themes of beauty and risk, pleasure and danger, in the context of one of three kinds of relationships: to romantic partners, to the spiritual world, and to the world of nature....

  • The Truth about A

In his interpretation of Antigone, Seamus Heaney says, ‘Nobody can be sure they are always right.’ Maureen O’Shaughnessy’s The Truth about A further attends to this idea through various readings of the myth as portrayed by Sophocles, Brecht, Ted Hughes, Anne Carson and, most particularly, Euripides.
