A quarant’anni dalla scoperta del virus dell’AIDS, l’HIV non è stato completamente debellato e continua ad avere un impatto particolarmente forte sui gruppi vulnerabili che sono lontani dalle cure sanitarie a causa di fattori socio-culturali e legali. In questo contesto, la Peer Education e il Peer Educator si sono affermati come un vero e proprio collegamento tra il sistema sanitario e le comunità meno visibili. Sebbene il lavoro dei peer educator sia diventato la pietra miliare della prevenzione dell’HIV in tutto il mondo, la natura e lo scopo di questo ruolo rimangono poco chiari. Questo progetto è un tentativo di chiarire la funzione della Peer Education e un invito a considerare maggiormente il loro contributo alla lotta contro l’HIV.
