Le acque sotterranee (GW) costituiscono una parte del sistema circolatorio idrico terrestre. Le acque sotterranee stanno suscitando un interesse sempre maggiore a causa della scarsità di acqua sotterranea di buona qualità e del crescente bisogno di acqua per usi domestici, agricoli e industriali. Il concetto di telerilevamento e GIS integrato si è dimostrato uno strumento efficace per integrare la gestione dei bacini idrografici e la ricarica del GW. Il problema del presente studio è un caso rappresentativo di sovrasfruttamento delle risorse GW, che porta al continuo esaurimento degli acquiferi granulari e GW. L’uso integrato di tecniche geospaziali e MCDM è uno strumento efficace per valutare la ricarica del GW, in base al quale si possono identificare i luoghi adatti per il prelievo del GW. La metodologia è stata progettata integrando importanti indicatori del GW come la geologia, la geomorfologia, il lineamento, la pendenza, la densità di drenaggio per l’esplorazione della zona di ricarica delle acque sotterranee a scala di bacino. Lo scopo di questo libro è quello di fornire a pianificatori e ingegneri informazioni pratiche per valutare il potenziale di applicazione di schemi di ricarica artificiale delle acque sotterranee in programmi o progetti di approvvigionamento idrico.
