Aloha, My story is a Historical Fiction. Follow my story as I take you on a journey to know the main character Iao, The Boy Warrior of Kahekili as he grows up in the areas of Wailuku and Waikapu. He lives a life of joy with his family. In 1786, he is recruited to be a warrior, who fights and dies at the Battle of Kepaniwai, Maui, Hawaii, in the year 1790. This was his fate. He dies at Kepaniwai among thousands of other warriors, who must never be forgotten. Follow the life of Iao through my words. Read how the life of Iao is closely aligned to the life of Kamehameha. Find out how the boy Iao lives-on in spirit in this very same place where the Iao River still courses its way to the sea at Paukūkalo. The Pū’ali Koa died for the cause of Freedom. The Pū’ali Koa live -on in the spiritual mist (Ka ’ohu) that lingers at Iao Valley, until this very day. Interwoven in my story are the facts about the birth and legacy of Kamehameha The Great. Clear descriptions, based on extensive research, capture the essence of the unique lifestyle and heritage of the Hawaiians who lived at this time in History. The brilliant and gracious Hawaiian people of the 'Isles of the Sea,' continue to live here until this very day. I have told the story of just one crystal moment of their past, that might change your future, and this is my Ho’ina.
