Trama e personaggi Un romanzo di formazione, articolato in diciotto capitoli, che racconta il viaggio avventuroso e anche iniziatico di un adolescente molto curioso, Ludovico. Come Alice di Lewis Carroll, va alla scoperta di un mondo fantastico in cui come suggerisce il titolo del libro trovano casa i sogni dopo avere soggiornato per un po’ all’interno dei sonni dell’umanità. A fare da guida in questa scoperta che si rivela meravigliosa ma anche irta di insidie, e continua fonte di emozioni, è un saggio gufo chiamato Biante, accompagnato dai gufi Lele e Priscilla, che comunica direttamente con Ludovico perché parla il nostro stesso linguaggio. I sogni belli sono custoditi in una gigantesca caverna, gli incubi invece fanno capo a una montagna brulla e vengono custoditi da due mostruosi ciclopi gemelli. Ludovico vivrà in prima linea lo scontro epico tra il bene e il male messo in scena dai custodi dei due tipi di sogno, e avrà modo di conoscere i sogni di tanti altri giovani come lui, ognuno dei quali è uno scrigno di verità. Alla fine del viaggio, tornerà alla sua famiglia e alla sua casa più maturo e più consapevole, grazie all’esperienza che ha vissuto.
