Kira Hartley Klinger lives in rural Ohio and has traveled to Maine to visit her parents dozens of times in the past four decades, including summer vacations every year with her three children. Once upon a time, her parents owned an inn in Maine. Now in their eighties and in retirement, the next phase of the journey has been a battle with her dad’s lung cancer. His dog doesn’t leave his side.Already a published author, it was an easy decision for Kira to write a story about this beautiful devotion between man and man’s best friend. This is their story but also everybody’s story who has a dog they love and a dog who loves them the most. Recommended for ages 2 to 102.
