I Belong to Me is Emma Jane O’Farrell’s story of survival, hope and blind courage.  Shocking events in Emma’s life shook her foundation to the core.  Defeat seemed to mock her at every turn and almost broke her spirit. Emma survived a dysfunctional family life, rape and suicide attempts.  She suffered humiliation and violent beatings at the hands of her first husband, Les Carter, who deemed a marriage licence, gave him ownership of her.  She also escaped the clutches of the underworld. Fate took Emma and her children to Bougainville, an island in the South Pacific, and to other countries, but her peace was temporary, disturbed by images of her first love and the hatred of her abusive husband.  Divorce lost her the affection of three of her five children.  She relentlessly tried and miserable failed to gain their forgiveness the, heartbroken and grieving for her lost children, fell into depression.  The peace she craved had abandoned her.  In a quest to understand her existence, curiosity led her to explore the supernatural. Courage surfaced where none was expected.  Emma began the fight of her life and in the process discovered a fact that would alter her forever. This story is based on events that did happen.
