At the early age of 11, she fell in love with butterflies which inspired her to want to become a pilot. Years later, she met a flight instructor who taught her how to fly and opened the way to a love story. They married, had three children, and spent 30 years together. Butterflies inspired other dreams for her, such as having a business and becoming a writer.
