Demands of religious organizations are becoming even more diverse and complex. Many barriers exist that compromise a church’s ability to achieve its mission, much less, consider expansion of new programs and services. The majority of these barriers are tied to funding limitations. Therefore, churches and related religious institutions are encumbered to pursue a variety of funding vehicles necessary to acquire additional resources to support strategic growth—vehicles such as a planned gifts program. In order to realize success, this type of fund-raising initiative must be systematic and sustainable. Thus, required is a step-by-step implementation model that is proven, formalized and systemic and that is volunteer-based and driven. This manual is designed with the volunteer mind. It is meant to break down a big project into smaller and manageable pieces over a period of time and apply “best practices” to your unique church environment. This planned gifts implementation model is designed for any type of church or religious organization that is interested in continued growth and development. The overarching outcome of this effort is two-fold – acquisition of significant financial resources and, more importantly, the ability of your church to advance its important work within and beyond its walls for generations to come. Implementation of this program will secure significant resources that will enable your church to discern and resolve long-term needs—those that are planned and consistent with its strategic vision as well as those that are unforeseen at the present time.
